Plague Ship by Leonard Goldberg is a Thrill Ride at Sea

A little advice: When you sit down to read this one, make sure you’re in a comfortable chair, because you will not stop reading once this thrill ride begins.

Starting out with a flock of birds soaring over the Atlantic, one of the elegant flyers begins to lose altitude and fall TOMPlagueShiptoward the ocean and its ultimate demise. Suddenly, the shadow of a large ship appears and instead of a wet landing, the bird crash lands on the deck of The Grand Atlantic, a spectacular new cruise ship.

Dr. David Ballineau, his daughter, and his girlfriend, Carolyn Ross, are passengers on the magnificent liner. They’ve just gone through a storm out at sea and most of the passengers are suffering from seasickness, so the doctor has been helping out in sick bay instead of enjoying his vacation.

However, as the passengers begin to show symptoms that are far worse than simple cases of wave illness, impatience grows; they demand the baffled doctor to find a cure for them immediately.

What begins as frustration turns to absolute rage as one by one the passengers panic and send the crew of the great ship into a mutiny. The crew takes over the ship which is quarantined because of the mysterious illness and is not allowed to make landfall until the epidemic is uncovered.

Dr. Ballineau and his nurse girlfriend are doing their best to curb the illness which, oddly enough, has a lot to do with the beginning of the book. Having a background in Special Forces, David discovers the truth and works to neutralize the outbreak, but the cruise ship isn’t stocked with the medicine or the medical equipment he needs to make things right.

More action than Indiana Jones and 007 put together, this author has done a wonderful job of pulling the reader onto the huge ship and offering a plot that’s unforgettable. Both good guys and bad guys abound, and the intrigue factor is off the charts. What more could you ask for?

Until Next Time, Everybody,
