Ellman 4.0 Megahertz Radiofrequency Technology

Would you like a surgical tool that combines safety and precision? Ellman’s 4.0 Megahertz Radiofrequency (RF) energy does just that, making it a go-to device for a variety of ophthalmic procedures.

Description

Ellman’s 4.0 Megahertz RF Generators combine high frequency and low temperature to enhance precision, improve safety and improve procedural outcomes by minimizing tissue damage when making skin incisions, dissecting through tissue planes and coagulating conjunctiva or soft tissue. The newest coagulation waveform enhances hemostasis which further contributes to the product’s versatility.

Research & Testimonials

According to Steven G. Safran, MD, an ocular surface disease specialist and aesthetic ophthalmic surgeon, “This tool is unique in the way it allows you to control the application of energy to manipulate conjunctival tissue.”

Ellman’s 4.0 MHz RF has been shown to cause 73% less thermal spread than low frequency generators1, making it safer than competitive electrosurgical units. This means less tissue damage, more rapid recovery and minimal scarring.

Because of this, this unique energy source can also be used on the anterior surface of the globe. Dr. Safran uses the system on eyelids and conjunctiva as well as a definitive treatment for problematic lashes and the corneal sequelae. Specifically, he uses it for “spot welding” of the conjunctiva to close defects, shrinking conjunctiva for achievement of conjunctivochalasis as well as for other procedures involving conjunctivitis and glaucoma (such as superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis treatment, percutaneous or transconjunctival levator aponeurosis tweaking for a small amount of lid ptosis, and glaucoma filtering bleb modifications).

This system is also useful for punctual occlusion or punctoplasties and chalazion removal or treatment.
